The Lichway

Lydford, Devon

Part of Lydford →

The Lich Way, or way of the dead, is the medieval corpse road along which people living deep in the moor were once obliged to carry their dead for burial at Lydford, the mother parish. It runs across the northern moor and is as much a walk into Dartmoor's history as across its landscape.
