Lydford Tor

Grid ref: SX 5992 7816

On walking routes: The Lichway

Lydford Tor sits on the gentle south slope of Methern Hill, close to a tall stile that gives access from the north. Its outcrops are noted for their repetitive horizontal jointings, best seen on the south-west side. A small rock shelter forms on the north-east side, and the tor's clitter towers above the Cowsic River. It lies near the Lych Way, an old track once used for carrying dead bodies to Lydford church.
