Cairn and cist, Beardown Tors

Historic England's scheduling record (list entry 1021179) describes a cairn with a cist on an east-facing slope of Beardown Tors, above the valley of the West Dart River. The mound is flat-topped, 5 metres across and up to 0.6 metres high. Edge-set stones up to 0.25 metres high round its west edge are a kerb that survives buried elsewhere. In the middle is a cist running north to south, 1.23 metres long, 0.65 metres wide and 0.65 metres deep. A large slab a short way north-west of it is the cover stone, moved during an earlier investigation. It lies in the parish of Dartmoor Forest, about 0.7 km south-west of Crow Tor and 3.1 km north of Two Bridges.
