Broadun Ring, Hartland Tor

Historic England's scheduling record (list entry 1021334) describes a prehistoric enclosed settlement known as Broadun Ring, on a south-east-facing slope above the valley of the East Dart River. The enclosure is an oval bounded by a boulder-faced wall up to 6 metres wide and 1.2 metres high, 119 metres north to south by 79 metres east to west inside. A gap in the south-east length of wall may be an original entrance. It holds at least 13 hut circles, 3.5 to 8.5 metres across inside, most with visible doorways and six attached to the inner face of the enclosure. The largest hut has a rectangular platform built inside it, and some appear to have been refurbished, which suggests reuse perhaps in the historic period. It lies in the parish of Dartmoor Forest, about 1.3 km south-west of Stannon Tor and 1.7 km north-west of Postbridge.

The Dartmoor Exploration Committee part excavated ten of the huts in 1893 and found hearthstones, charcoal, flints and pot boilers. A small number of pits inside the enclosure are from stone splitting in historic times. A drystone wall up to 1.5 metres high runs beside the inner face of the west side of the enclosure bank and is a post-medieval field boundary.
