Stannon Tor

Devon

Stannon Tor is a modest but distinctive granite outcrop rising from the open moor of central Dartmoor. At 462 metres, it offers a natural vantage point across the moorland plateau, with views that stretch to higher ground and the encircling hills beyond the park boundary.

The tor sits in characterful moorland country where paths and tracks cross the heather and grass. The granite outcrops typical of Dartmoor are present here, worn and weathered into the shapes that mark the high moor. The walk to Stannon rewards the effort with the kind of wide perspective that draws people to Dartmoor in the first place.
