Sittaford Tor

Grid ref: SX 6331 8305

Sittaford Tor rises to 538 metres on the eastern side of Dartmoor, just west of Fernworthy Forest. The summit is surprisingly flat and grass-covered, making the scattered granite outcrops easy to miss, though the southern face shows broken rock with clear horizontal joints. The tor's real reward is its panoramic views across the moor, particularly north and south towards Postbridge. A logan stone once stood here before its disappearance around 1956. Multiple paths converge on the tor from Postbridge, Fernworthy and other directions, with stiles crossing the newtake walls that divide the ground.
