Hartland Tor

Devon

Hartland Tor is a modest granite peak situated in the quieter western moorlands of Dartmoor. The tor itself is characterised by the weathered granite outcrops typical of the high moor, rising from surrounding heathland and rough grassland with little fanfare but genuine presence in the landscape.

The approach is across open moorland, giving walkers unfolding views of the Dartmoor plateau and the rolling country beyond. The tor's position offers good sightlines across the moor in most directions, and the walk to it takes in the quiet character of this less-crowded corner of the national park.
