Agglomerate enclosure near Cawsand Beacon

This scheduled monument comprises fifteen stone hut circles arranged within an enclosure built from agglomerate, a locally available volcanic stone. The site dates to the Bronze Age, when such clustered settlements were common across Dartmoor's high moorland. The hut circles, marked by low stone rings, once supported roundhouses where families lived, worked and kept livestock on the open moor.

Today the site sits on exposed moorland between Cawsand Beacon and the wider landscape of central Dartmoor. The stones remain modest and weathered, integral to the moor itself. Visitors find themselves walking among the remains of a prehistoric community, their presence still legible in the careful placement of these Bronze Age foundations.
