This scheduled monument is the earthwork remains of an ancient camp, likely dating to the Iron Age or Bronze Age, occupying a commanding position on the high moorland northeast of Berra Tor. The site consists of defensive or boundary earthworks that would have enclosed a settlement or temporary gathering place for the communities who lived on or used Dartmoor in prehistory.
Today the camp survives as subtle banks and ditches in the heather and grass, legible to a practiced eye but requiring patience to read.
