Beaker cairn, Hurston Ridge

Historic England's scheduling record (list entry 1020040) describes a round cairn on a gentle north-east-facing slope of Hurston Ridge, above the valley of the North Walla Brook. It is 6 metres across and up to 0.7 metres high. The Barrow Committee of the Devonshire Association part excavated it in 1897 and found a ring of slabs round a cist that nobody had examined before. The cist held a complete Bronze Age beaker and charcoal, but no sign of a burial. It lies in the parish of Chagford, about 1.8 km north-west of Birch Tor and 2.9 km south-west of Lettaford.
