Berra Tor

Berra Tor is a modest outcrop of sedimentary rock rising to 132 metres, standing on the edge of the National Park above Balstone Wood. Trees grow from the rocks themselves, particularly on the south-west side where a large rock face rises sharply. The tor is genuinely secluded and little-visited, tricky to pick out among the surrounding woodland. An Iron Age defended settlement sits about 180 metres to the north-east, recorded by Historic England as a nationally rare monument type. The best approach is from Long Ash Garden Centre car park to the east, though paths also lead in from Double Waters and Balstone Wood.
