Enclosure near Broad Hole

This scheduled monument consists of a stone hut circle set within an enclosure, typical of Bronze Age settlement patterns across Dartmoor. The hut circle represents a dwelling, while the surrounding enclosure likely served to contain livestock or define domestic space. Such sites are scattered across the moor, evidence of communities who lived and worked on Dartmoor's high ground in prehistory.

Today the remains are modest but legible to a trained eye, standing among heather and grass in open moorland. The site lies in the exposed country south east of Broad Hole, where visitors can sense the moor's continuity: the same landscape that sheltered Bronze Age families now draws walkers seeking solitude and the weight of deep time.
