Enclosure and hut circle beside the Cowsic

Historic England's scheduling record (list entry 1008659) describes an oval enclosure holding a single stone hut circle, on a terrace right beside the east bank of the River Cowsic. The enclosure is 20 metres east to west by 30 metres north to south inside, with a rubble wall 1.2 metres thick and 0.4 metres high and an entrance in the south wall. Inside it is a knoll 11 metres across and up to 2.5 metres high, probably natural, though a trench 5 metres long has been cut into its side. The hut circle on the east side of the enclosure has a stone and earth wall 1 metre wide and 0.7 metres high around a space 3.2 metres across, with its doorway facing south. It lies in the parish of Dartmoor Forest, about 0.7 km south-east of Conies Down Tor.
