Conies Down Tor sits on the southern slope of Maiden Hill, with two outcrops at around 525m. The higher one has a flat top and a western overhang that could shelter from east winds. The view of the meandering Cowsic River below is one of the most striking on Dartmoor, with the valley's twists and turns clearly visible from the tor.
