Conies Down Tor

Devon

Conies Down Tor is a small granite peak set within the broad moorland of central Dartmoor. It sits in a landscape of heather, bog and stone, with few dramatic neighbours to compete with. The tor itself is modest in stature but characteristic of Dartmoor's granite outcrops, weathered and fractured by centuries of exposure to the elements.

The walk to Conies Down Tor is straightforward across open moor, following established paths and tracks. From the summit, views stretch out across the moorland plateau to distant ridges and tors. It is the kind of place walkers pass through or use as a waypoint on longer routes, rather than a major destination in itself. That quiet character is part of its appeal.
