Willsworthy Pound near Willsworthy Bridge

Historic England's scheduling record (list entry 1020010) describes an animal pound in a shallow valley beside a stream running to the River Tavy. It is a D-shaped walled structure, 9.5 metres north-east to south-west by 7.7 metres north-west to south-east inside, with a substantial drystone wall mostly of large boulders, up to 1.8 metres high and 1.5 metres wide. A gap 1 metre wide in the north-east side, marked by large upright stones, is an original entrance. The pound lies beside the Lich Way, which may explain its siting, but its nearness to a manor house has led to its traditional description as the Manor Pound of Willsworthy. It lies in the parish of Peter Tavy, about 1.4 km south-west of Nat Tor.
