Scarey Tor

Scarey Tor is a modest but distinctive granite outcrop that rises from the open moorland of central Dartmoor. At 365 metres, it commands views across the surrounding plateau and the rolling granite landscape that characterises the heart of the moor. The tor itself is formed of weathered granite tors typical of Dartmoor, with the characteristic jumbled boulders and rocky slopes.
The approach across open moorland is straightforward, though like much of central Dartmoor the ground can be boggy underfoot after rain. The tor sits within easy reach of several walking routes and makes a natural waypoint for those exploring the moor on foot. Its name reflects the sense of wildness and exposure that defines this part of Dartmoor, where the landscape feels open and unforgiving.
