Blowing Mill at Outer Down is a scheduled monument marking the site of an industrial building that once processed tin ore on the high moorland. The blowing mill would have used water power to drive bellows and machinery essential to tin working, part of the network of extraction and processing that sustained Dartmoor's economy for centuries.
Today the site is marked by earthworks and scattered stones in the moorland landscape. Its location on open ground, far from any settlement, reflects how Dartmoor's resources drew industry into remote places. The monument sits within the wider story of the moor's tin mining past, visible in spoil heaps and leats that still shape the terrain.
