Winter Tor

Devon

Winter Tor is a granite peak standing at 420 metres above sea level in the heart of Dartmoor. It rises as a modest but distinctive outcrop from the open moorland, offering clear views across the moor in most directions. The tor's name and character reflect its exposed position on the high plateau.

The walk to Winter Tor takes you across typical Dartmoor terrain, with heather, grass and scattered stones underfoot. From the summit, the moorland stretches away to distant horizons. Like many of Dartmoor's peaks, Winter Tor makes a natural waypoint on longer walks across the central moor, and a straightforward destination for those exploring this part of the landscape.
