Meldon Hill

Grid ref: SX 6963 8613

Meldon Hill rises to about 390 metres on the north-eastern edge of Dartmoor, overlooking Chagford. The summit has two distinct features worth visiting: a rocky outcrop and a trig point. On a clear day you can see right across the eastern high ground, from Cosdon Hill in the north down through Kes Tor, Fernworthy Forest, Birch Tor and Haytor to the south. The southern approach is straightforward, but if you climb from Chagford itself, expect a steep route. The hill also holds some of Dartmoor's largest rock basins.
