Cox Tor
Devon
Cox Tor rises as a modest but distinctive granite summit in the northern reaches of Dartmoor. At 443 metres, it does not rank among the highest peaks, but its position and clear granite crown make it a natural landmark on the moor. The tor is accessible from several approach routes and rewards the walk with open views across the surrounding moorland and plateau.
The walk to Cox Tor takes you through typical Dartmoor terrain: open grassland, heather and gorse, with the granite tors scattered across the skyline. The tor itself offers a straightforward scramble to its top, where on clear days you can see far across the northern moor and beyond. It is a good vantage point for understanding the scale and character of this part of Dartmoor.
