Two stone hut circles 80m and 130m north of Rippon Tor

These two stone hut circles, located 80 and 130 metres north of Rippon Tor, are the remains of Bronze Age dwellings. The circular stone foundations mark where people built and lived on this exposed moorland, possibly between 1500 and 700 BC. Such settlements were common across Dartmoor during prehistory, taking advantage of the higher ground for pastoral farming.
Today the hut circles are subtle features in the landscape, best visited in winter or early spring when vegetation is lower and the stone rings become more apparent. They sit within views of Rippon Tor itself and form part of a broader pattern of ancient settlement visible across this area of the moor. Walking here offers a sense of continuity with the moorland's deep past.
