Calveslake Tor

Calveslake Tor is a small granite peak rising from the open moorland of northern Dartmoor. Its exposed position gives it a spare, windswept character, typical of the higher tors that punctuate this landscape. The tor itself is not dramatic, but its isolation makes it a useful landmark and a natural stopping point on a walk across the moor.
The approach is straightforward across open ground, with few obstacles and wide views in all directions. From here you can see across the high plateau and pick out other tors and features of the surrounding moor. The lack of shelter makes it a place to respect in poor weather, but in clear conditions it rewards the walk with the openness that defines Dartmoor at its best.
