Hen Tor

Devon

Hen Tor is a small but distinct granite outcrop set among the rolling moorland of central Dartmoor. The tor's granite character is typical of the moor, weathered and rough, rising from the surrounding heather and grass. It occupies a quiet corner of the landscape, away from the more famous high peaks, and offers the kind of walking experience that many come to Dartmoor to find: uncluttered and intimate.

The approach is straightforward across open moorland, with good visibility and few obstacles underfoot. From the tor itself, views extend across the surrounding moor in all directions. The walk here suits those who prefer to explore Dartmoor's quieter reaches and appreciate the granite landscape on its own terms, without the crowds that gather at higher or more dramatic tors.
