Cairns, cist and standing stone west of Bellever Tor

Historic England's scheduling record (list entry 1018508) describes two cairns, one with a cist, and a standing stone on a gentle west-facing slope. Before the forest was planted they would have overlooked the valley of the Cherry Brook. The scheduling falls into two areas. It lies in the parish of Dartmoor Forest, about 1.3 km north-west of Laughter Tor and 2.8 km south of Postbridge.

The northern cairn is a mound 7.7 metres across and 0.8 metres high, with at least five edge-set stones up to 0.35 metres high marking its east side. In the middle is a substantial cist, 1.4 metres long, 0.48 metres wide and 0.5 metres deep, aligned north-north-west to south-south-east. Its north end stone seems to be missing and the east side stone has slipped inwards. West of the cist and partly overhanging it lies a slab 1.84 metres by 1.48 metres and 0.35 metres thick, the capstone left behind by robbers. The cist had already been disturbed before the Dartmoor Exploration Committee investigated it in 1901.

The southern cairn is a mound 6 metres by 5 metres and up to 0.7 metres high. Two edge slabs on the north side may be the remains of a kerb surviving buried elsewhere. An upright slab 6.6 metres east-south-east of it may be a standing stone of the same date: it is 0.95 metres high, 0.8 metres wide at the base tapering to 0.2 metres at the top, 0.28 metres thick, with its long axis pointing at the nearby cairn.
