Cairn with a cist

This is a Bronze Age cairn, a mound of stones raised over a cist, a stone-lined burial chamber. It stands as one of two such monuments in close proximity in this part of Dartmoor, marking the ritual and ceremonial use of the high moor in prehistoric times.
