This Walla Brook rises near the Warren House Inn and runs south for about four miles, passing Bellever and the Cators, to join the lower East Dart close to Babeny. For part of its length it forms the boundary between Teignbridge district to the east and West Devon to the west.
It is crossed in several places. A lane from Bellever to the Cators bridges it, the road into Babeny crosses it just east of the hamlet, and a clapper bridge spans it a short way above the East Dart, near Babeny farm. At the meeting with the East Dart the bridleway from Brimpts crosses the river on stepping stones known locally as Babeny Steps.
Another stream called North Walla Brook also starts near the Warren House Inn, but it runs the other way, north and east towards the River Bovey. The easy way to tell the Dartmoor Walla Brooks apart is to name the river each one joins: this one joins the East Dart.
