This Walla Brook rises at Walla Brook Head on Hangingstone Hill, about a mile east of Cranmere Pool, in the same high country where the Teign and the Dart begin. It runs north off the hill and then loops east to meet the North Teign just below the Wallabrook clapper bridge on Gidleigh Common. Locally it is also known as the Headon River.
The bridge is a single large slightly arched granite slab, listed Grade II and dated by Historic England to the 18th or 19th century. It is a small clapper by Dartmoor standards, about a mile from the nearest car park near Scorhill, with the Teign-e-ver clapper bridge very close by. There are views across to Watern and Wild Tors, with Scorhill Tor on the hill behind.
It is one of four Dartmoor streams called Walla Brook. The others join the East Dart at Babeny, the River Lyd near Doe Tor, and the River Bovey; this is the one that joins the North Teign.
