Scorhill Tor

Devon

Scorhill Tor is a straightforward granite peak on the open northern reaches of Dartmoor, rising to 378 metres above sea level. The tor itself is composed of weathered granite outcrops, characteristic of the moor's high ground, and sits within a landscape of heather, grass and exposed stone.

The approach is across typical moorland terrain, with good views opening up across the surrounding heights and valleys. From the tor, the perspective extends over the broad sweep of northern Dartmoor, with distant ridgelines visible in most directions. It is the kind of walk that rewards those who appreciate the moor's scale and spare beauty rather than dramatic rock formations.
