Walla Brook hut circle settlement

Historic England's scheduling record (list entry 1019224) describes a hut circle settlement on a gentle south-facing slope above the Walla Brook. The scheduling falls into two areas. There is at least one enclosure and 18 hut circles, circular or oval banks round spaces of 3.8 to 15.2 square metres, averaging 10.4, with walls 0.2 to 0.8 metres high, averaging 0.43. Eight have visible doorways and two lie inside the enclosure. The three huts centred on SX 66698142 are especially complex: the northern has a hooked porch and the other two are joined to a small irregular courtyard. The enclosure, in the northern part of the settlement, is 19 metres by 15 metres, bounded by an earthwork bank 1.5 metres wide and 0.5 metres high with the odd big upright stone. It lies in the parish of Dartmoor Forest, about 2 km west of Birch Tor and 2.9 km north-east of Postbridge.
