Wild Tor

Wild Tor rises as a modest pile of granite blocks in the heart of Dartmoor, reaching 531 metres above sea level. Its name suits the setting: open moorland with few sheltering features, where weather and light move across the landscape with little obstruction. The tor itself is not dramatic, but its position gives it purpose and presence.
The approach is across typical Dartmoor terrain, and the walk rewards with views across the central plateau and the rolling granite country beyond. Like many of Dartmoor's smaller tors, it offers a sense of the moor's true character: working land where stone and heather, sky and distance, matter more than height or spectacle.
