Watern Tor sits on the eastern side of the northern moor above Gidleigh Common. It's known for its uniquely eroded granite formations, with the Thirlstone at the northern end offering a distinctive gap with fine views. The tor's weathered piles and close-packed jointings set it apart, and it's best approached via a path from Scorhill through Gallaven Mire and over Walla Brook.
