Sandy Gerrard
Sandy Gerrard is an archaeologist who has written about Dartmoor's prehistoric landscape and its tin industry. Her Book of Dartmoor: Landscapes Through Time was published by Batsford with English Heritage in 1997, and The Early British Tin Industry followed from Tempus in 2000, when the publisher described her as English Heritage's archaeologist for the Monuments Protection Programme.
That programme explains why her name turns up so often in official records. Historic England's list entries for many Dartmoor monuments, among them round cairns, ring cairns and tinners' buildings, give "MPP fieldwork by S. Gerrard" as a source.
She also contributes to Historic England's Missing Pieces Project. On the entry for the Kestor coaxial field system she posted a plan of a round house and photographs from the Teigncombe round house excavation, which ran from 1999 to 2005, and linked the report on the dig, a 58 page PDF on the ACE Archaeology Club site.
