Kestor Rocks

Grid ref: SX 6654 8627

On walking routes: Two Moors Way

Kestor Rocks stands at 437 metres on the open plateau of central Dartmoor, a granite outcrop that rises from the surrounding moorland without drama but with the weathered character typical of the tor landscape. The summit rocks are modest in scale but commanding in their exposure, giving real views across the moor in most directions.

The walk here is generally easy, across open moorland from several approach points. The tor makes a natural waypoint on longer moorland walks and sits within the wider granite terrain that defines this stretch of Dartmoor. In clear weather the views extend far across the high ground; in mist, it becomes a useful landmark for navigation.
