This scheduled monument consists of a parallel reave, a characteristic Bronze Age field boundary made of stone, alongside two associated enclosures. The reave is part of the extensive system of land divisions that cross Dartmoor, evidence of organised settlement and agriculture in the Bronze Age. The parallel reave here runs broadly with another nearby, a common pattern across the moor where land was divided into long strips.
Today the site remains as a pattern of low stone walls and earthworks on the open moorland east of Roughtor. Walking here, you can read the landscape as those ancient communities shaped it, with the reave defining property and the enclosures possibly serving as stock pens or settlement areas. It is one of countless similar sites across Dartmoor that together form a palimpsest of prehistoric land use.
