The Narrator Brook flows off the high ground near Sheeps Tor, on the south-western moor, and runs down through the woods around Burrator Reservoir. It takes its name from the Narrator outcrop of Sheeps Tor and from the old farm of Narrator, now a ruin, drowned farmland and deserted longhouses being a theme of this reservoir-side country.
The brook drains into the Burrator basin and the River Meavy, part of the network of streams gathered to supply water to Plymouth. Its clapper bridges and the ruined farmsteads of Deancombe make it a favourite short walk from the reservoir.
