Okement Hill

Okement Hill rises to 564 metres on Dartmoor's northern reaches, a quiet summit of weathered granite and heather. The tor sits in open country where the land rolls gently, less dramatic than some of its higher neighbours but rewarding for its sense of space and exposure to the moorland weather.
The walk here takes you across typical Dartmoor terrain: rough grass, stone, and scattered gorse. From the summit the views extend across the high moor to the north and west, with the sense of being well out into the emptiness that makes the high moor distinctive. This is walking country rather than a destination in itself, but that is very much in the spirit of Dartmoor.
