Ger Tor

Devon

Ger Tor is a small granite peak set on the open moor between Postbridge and Widecombe. The tor itself is unassuming, a cluster of weathered stones rather than a dramatic summit, but it sits within some of Dartmoor's most characteristic country, where the land rolls in gentle swells of heather and grass beneath wide skies.

The walk to Ger Tor takes you across typical moorland terrain, with good visibility from the summit across the surrounding plateau. It is a place that rewards those who value solitude and the texture of the moor itself, rather than a destination that dominates the landscape. The approach is straightforward from nearby settlements and paths, making it a natural choice for a quiet walk into the heart of central Dartmoor.
