St Andrew Church - Moretonhampstead

Moretonhampstead, Devon

Part of Moretonhampstead →

St Andrew Church sits in the centre of Moretonhampstead and dates from the early fifteenth century, when its tower, roughly 27 metres tall, was built. The nave and aisles came later in the late fifteenth century. Inside, the church retains a traditional Devon wagon roof that rests on fourteenth-century granite pillars. The building underwent major restoration work twice, once in the mid-nineteenth century and again in the early twentieth century.
