This cairnfield is a Bronze Age monument, one of many scattered across Dartmoor's high ground. The site consists of several stone cairns, burial mounds built over graves and marked by heaps of stone. Such fields were used over generations, reflecting how these upland areas were important to Bronze Age communities for settlement, burial and land use.
Today the cairns remain as low stone heaps on the open moor, part of the wider pattern of prehistoric activity visible across Dartmoor. The site lies in rough moorland terrain west of Stoneyhurst, where walkers may encounter these modest but significant monuments while crossing the high ground. Like many Bronze Age sites here, it speaks to the long human history of the moor.
