Yar Tor stone row is a Scheduled Monument consisting of a line of stones and an associated cist, or stone burial chamber, set on the open moor. The site dates to the Bronze Age, a period when Dartmoor was more densely inhabited and farmed than today. Stone rows and burial cists are among the most distinctive remains of this era, and many still stand across the moor much as they have for over three thousand years.
The row and cist sit within the wider Bronze Age landscape of Dartmoor, part of a pattern of ritual monuments, field systems and settlement that shaped the high ground. Walking the moor here, you encounter these markers as Bronze Age communities left them: spare, purposeful, and still commanding the open landscape.
