Yar Tor

Devon

Yar Tor is a small granite peak rising to 424 metres on the central plateau of Dartmoor. Its weathered granite blocks sit in exposed moorland, characteristic of the high ground between the larger named tors. The tor commands views across open heather and grass moorland, with sight lines to the broader Dartmoor landscape.

The walk to Yar Tor takes you across typical high moorland terrain. It is a quiet approach rather than a destination in itself, but worth visiting as part of a wider moorland walk. The tor's modest height and isolated location make it a good waypoint for those exploring the less-trafficked central moor.
