Eylesbarrow Reave is a Bronze Age field boundary, or reave, that forms part of the extensive and complex system of land division that was laid out across Dartmoor in prehistory. This section of the reave survives as a low bank, now largely overgrown, running across open moorland. Reaves divided the moor into blocks of land for agriculture and grazing, and their presence across Dartmoor suggests a period of organised farming and settlement in the Bronze Age.
Walking the moor in this area, the reave can be difficult to trace, especially where vegetation has taken hold or the ground has changed over millennia. Yet it remains a tangible link to ancient land use and marks a time when Dartmoor's landscape was actively managed and divided by its inhabitants. The surrounding moorland and the fragments of reave visible here offer a sense of continuity with Bronze Age patterns of life on the high moor.
