Legis Tor

Legis Tor comprises four main granite outcrops rising to about 310 metres on a spur above the River Plym's middle reach, on the southern edge of Ringmoor Down. The granite here is notably pink, stained by iron-rich black tourmaline during mineralisation. Close by are the pillow mounds from rabbit warrening that operated from at least the 14th century onwards, and a well-preserved mid 19th century vermin trap built to catch stoats and weasels that preyed on the warren stock. The tor is easily reached from Brisworthy Plantation in around 30 minutes, with Bronze Age stone circles nearby.
