This pillow mound is a low, elongated earthwork that once formed part of Hentor Warren, a managed landscape for rabbit breeding. Medieval and later warrens were important resources on Dartmoor, providing fresh meat and fur. The mound itself would have been honeycombed with burrows where rabbits nested and bred under human management.
Today it appears as a gentle rise in the moorland turf, best understood as part of the broader warren landscape. The site sits within the wider context of Ditsworthy Warren House to the north west, and reflects the layered use of Dartmoor's commons and uplands across centuries.
