Eylesbarrow Reave is a scheduled monument, a length of ancient field boundary or reave that crosses the Dartmoor landscape. These linear features, built from stone and often topped with turf, were constructed during the Bronze Age as communities organised and divided the moorland for pastoral farming. The reave system speaks to a time of growing social order and land management on Dartmoor, when the moor was more extensively settled than it is today.
Walking the line of the reave today, you encounter the accumulated marks of millennia, weathered by Bronze Age hands and shaped by the moor's enduring conditions.
