Eastern Tor

Eastern Tor is a granite outcrop that sits quietly in the eastern reaches of Dartmoor, rising to 333 metres above sea level. The tor itself is relatively modest in stature, typical of the scattered high points across this part of the moor, but the open ground around it offers wide views across the moorland landscape and the rolling country beyond the park boundary.
The walk to Eastern Tor takes you across open heather and grass, with the granite bedrock showing through in places. It is the kind of hill that rewards the effort of getting there with a strong sense of being out on the moor, away from the better known landmarks. The views from the summit reach across Dartmoor's eastern edge and into Devon beyond, making it a worthwhile stop on a moorland walk.
