Little Staple Tor

Grid ref: SX 5386 7536

Little Staple Tor sits at 380 metres on the west side of the Walkham Valley, the lowest of the three Staple tors. Rather than the stacked granite you find at Middle and Great Staple, its rocks are scattered widely across the slopes, which can make the approach tricky underfoot. The real draw here is the rock basin, an impressive specimen measuring 77cm by 64cm and lined with stonecrop, which collects water until it overflows through a lip on the west side. From the tor you get clear views south towards Vixen and Pew tors, and on a clear day across to Bodmin Moor in Cornwall.
