Pew Tor
Devon
Pew Tor is a granite peak of modest height but distinctive character, rising to 320 metres on the central moor. The weathered granite outcrops have the fractured, weather-worn quality typical of Dartmoor's high places, and the tor commands open views across the moorland plateau in all directions. The approach is easy walking over open ground, making it a good destination for a shorter moorland walk or as part of a longer route across this part of the moor.
The tor sits in the heart of the moor with few immediate neighbours, so the sense of exposure and space is genuine. The granite blocks and slopes around the summit reward a few minutes spent looking at the stone and taking in the view. In clear weather the sight lines across Dartmoor are considerable.
