This scheduled monument preserves the remains of a prehistoric settlement consisting of hut circles and associated field systems. The site dates to the Bronze Age, when people lived on Dartmoor in small communities, building circular stone-based dwellings and cultivating the moorland around them. The field boundaries visible today show how the landscape was managed and divided for grazing and cultivation.
Located southwest of Combestone Wood, the site forms part of a wider pattern of Bronze Age settlement across central Dartmoor.
