Historic England's scheduling record (list entry 1021118) describes a cairn with a cist, north of Vixen Tor on a gentle south-facing slope above the River Walkham. The cairn is a mound 5.5 metres across and up to 0.2 metres high.
The cist is a stone-lined pit 1.2 metres long, 0.5 metres wide and 0.33 metres deep. Its top shows above the ground and is covered by two slabs, which until recently lay on its western edge.
The cairn sits on the edge of a large coaxial field system that covers much of Whitchurch Common and the slopes of Cox Tor.
