Historic England's scheduling record (list entry 1019996) describes a tor cairn on Hookney Tor, with extensive views in every direction, part of a cluster of mounds along a prominent ridge. It is a rubble bank attached to the south face of a rock outcrop. The ring bank is a curving earthwork 2 metres wide and up to 0.8 metres high that encloses a D-shaped area 12 metres east to west by 6 metres north to south, and the tor itself is 6 metres wide and up to 0.9 metres high. It lies in the parish of North Bovey, about 0.8 km south of Shapley Tor and 1.9 km north of Challacombe.
